The small coastal town of Seward is located about 125 miles south of Anchorage, about 3 hours by road. It lies on Resurrection Bay on the southeastern side of the Kenai Peninsula.

In the early 1900’s the town was founded due to being the end of the Alaska Railroad. This amazing town is found between Kenai Mountains and Resurrection. A short, but stunning trip from Anchorage brings you to this quaint town.

Seward features a harbor, shops and a number of art galleries. Many adventure seekers enjoy the abundant marine and mountain adventures available. Seward is known throughout the worlds as one of Alaska’s oldest and most scenic destinations.

This small town only has 3,000 year round residents. During the summer visitor season the population nearly triples. Fourth of July in Seward is known throughout Alaska. An amazing foot race to the top of Mt. Marathon is the highlight of the day.

Seward is easily accessible. Visitors can reach the town via the Seward Highway. This National Scenic Byway is the one of the most beautiful and amazing roads anywhere in the United States. Many travelers take bus tours along the road once they reach Seward. Seward is the primary end point for many cruise ships. Many passengers decide to take the train from Seward to many other Alaskan attractions.

Seward is known for its amazing fishing. It is one of the leading destinations of sport fishermen in the world. The Seward area is known for 250-pound halibut, rockfish, and king, silver and pink salmon.

Many visitors to the area go to the Alaska SeaLife Center. Sea trips can be arranged through a number of tour companies for thoese looking to view marine life. Many tours feature humpback whales, killer whales, sea lions, otters, seals and the elusive bald eagle.
